Knowing that United States population is about 300million people and out of that at least one million people in the United States are living with HIV/AIDS everyday. HIV (HUMAN Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system, making the body unable to fight the infection anymore, which causes the next stage in HIV. AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is a non-curable medical condition. Its development was cause by HIV damaging the person’s natural defenses against diseases. Anyone can easily become infected by being in contact with an infected person’s blood, sexual intercourse, being injected with drugs or blood products, sharing needles, or a child can receive it from their mother by birth or by breast feeding.
Adolescences lack the knowledge of knowing these simple facts about HIV/AIDS. They lack this important information because teenagers don’t believe they can be infected or it’s impossible to catch. Majority of the adolescence are scared to talk about sex with their parents or possible any other adult. If only these teenagers knew that AIDS is the sixth leading cause of death among people between the ages of 15-24 in the United States, their probably wouldn't be this many teenagers or people in general dying or getting infected everyday. Just by knowing or doing something as easy as you doing research or asking questions about HIV/AIDS adolescences would know and understand more about the disease.
African American teenagers or just teenagers period don’t understand that HIV/AIDS is one of the leading cause why our youth doesn’t reach the age 30 or even 40. This isn’t anything you can brush off your shoulder or just think it can go away easily. By having unprotected sex whether it’s oral or vaginal you still can catch it. You can only be protected by being abstinence or maybe just being with only one partner. With this new generation people are getting infected with HIV/AIDS by having sexual intercourse with multiple partners, random people, or men having sex with men and then having sex with their wife or girlfriends. People also tend to get infected by using dirty needles with either piercing or by letting someone that may or may not have a license give them a tattoo with a needle they didn’t clean. By not being careful and paying attention you can easily become one of those children who die from AIDS every minute or get infected with HIV/AIDS everyday. Everyday over 6800 people are contracted with HIV and over 5700 have died from AIDS.
