Suicide Around the Whole World

There is one suicide every sixteen minutes around the world. That’s how often someone kills themselves. There are many reasons to why young and older adults commit suicide. Some do it because they can’t that someone passed away, there on drugs and maybe because there things going on at home. After going on the internet and finding what percentage of suicide where done by drugs, these where my results: 33.3% tested for alcohol, 16.4% for opiates, 9.4% for cocaine, 7.7% for marijuana and 3.9% for amphetamines. Male adults age 75 have the highest rate o suicide. This is because of many of them are ill and is in so much pain and all they want is to be free. So they have no choice but to take their life. When using any kind of material or weapon firearms are the most commonly method of suicide for males and poisoning are the most commonly method of suicide for females. I proposed a survey to ten people, five females and five males and these were their response.
1.) If you choose to commit suicide what stops you?

Arena Wright- The thought of being token away from your family and friends.

Michael McFadden- Thinking they would be sent to hell if they kill themselves.

2.) Once you attempted suicide before, what makes you want
to do it again knowing you are just harming yourself?

Brittany Williams- Being able to be free without being stressed and no drama.

Marquis Reeves- The things that’s going on in your life that you think you can’t bare.

3.) Why is suicide so high among our teens today?

Willie Nickelson- There is so much going with them like maturity, school, and life.

Shakia Upshaw- They yet don’t know how to deal with there emotions and feelings.

4.) Why do people who try to commit suicide think that
Would be the easy way out?

Riannie Williams- They wouldn’t have to worry about nothing they did have to worry about when they were alive.

Xavier Buchana- Death is much easier than living now a days.

It's a Receeession

Recession is a general slowdown in economic activity in a country over a sustained period of time, or a business cycle contraction. During recessions, many macroeconomic indicators vary in a similar way. Production as measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment, investment spending.
How does one deal with the effects of the mistakes us as a country and the economy has made for our self? We have been faced with more questions than answers and as a economy we can only accept and cope. Not only people but businesses have also been hurt or thrown off by effects of the money eater. In a recent interview with the general manger at one of the most successful fast food chains in the U.S., Culver’s, I got their interpretation on how the recession has affect ted their business. Often when there is an economic downfall business have to adjust their spending to still maximize their profit and minimize money lost.
The recession has caused the company to decrease the amount of supply needed and that applies to products and labor which leads to the standstill in workers hired and let go. The workers want to hold on to their job, but if culvers were hiring then they would prefer older employees. This has caused culver’s to open their eyes and watch things more closely and trying to find any good alternative. I don’t think anyone can guess when we will have a recession and Culver’s of Lansing were one of the businesses not quit recession proofed. In the past business year, 2007, Culver’s has done pretty well for themselves, as far as promotion and business sales. They thought things were going so well that they didn’t even bother to repeat the process the following year causing a great decrease in the things needed to have the best possible outcome.
No body is recession proof. We can only try our hardest to keep things Intact. Things will get better.

Who is at Fault?

What seemed to be a harmless dice game, turned out to be the end of someone’s life. 15 year old, Marquell Blake, the 32nd CPS student who was killed on April 8 during his spring break. After reading and listening to other people’s comments, the question of who is at fault formulated. Some may argue that he shouldn’t have been going to a dice game; others may say he shouldn’t have been carrying a large amount of money. Each year the number of CPS students being killed has increased. Who do we blame? Is it the schools fault, is it the communities that the victims live in or should we blame the parents and family members. Media has made it a tradition to label the victims as CPS students even though none of the killings happened in school or on school grounds. I interviewed three people based on who is at fault, Victoria Ford a CPS official, Sylvia, Chicago Tribune assistant, and Ashley Crockett, 16 year old sophomore at Chicago Vocational Academy whose brother was killed last summer. The first question I addressed to Ms. Ford was, when the media labels a victim and/or suspect as a CPS student, does this affect the enrollment rate of Chicago Public Schools. She responded, it affects the enrollment rate of selective schools such as John Hope, because parents want their children to attend a school that guarantees a great education. When asked what is being done to decrease the violence she says, only thing that CPS can do is decrease violence in the school by adding more security and enforcing the school policies. Once the students leave the school grounds it is up to the community to protect the students. I asked her the big question who is at fault, and her response was, “no one is at fault, but it is society’s responsibility, everybody has a part”. Since the newspapers are the ones writing these articles, I contacted CLTV/Chicago Tribune, of course I got the run around, and that’s how I got connected to Sylvia, who didn’t mind answering my questions. I asked her why is CPS strapped to the killings, she said CPS students killings are so high, because they’re younger than 18, and because they go there. If the students went to a private school, they would put private school student. The last person I talked to was Ashley a sophomore at CVCA, her brother Allen Kompader, was killed July 30, 2008 around 1 am 6 days after his birthday. At first she didn’t believe it, as far as birthdays, she don’t go the cemetery because it won’t bring him back. She thinks that the schools and the community are at fault. “There should be activities that everyone could do; there should be young mentors for others who go through the same problems. The teachers don’t administrate as well as they should, and people shouldn’t have guns in the community.
Who is at fault? Society. Why is CPS strapped to the victims? Because they go there. What should be done about the violence? More programs for EVERYBODY.

Being an African American

Being an African American

In my eyes being an African American has been great. I never wanted to be another race because mine has too much meaning behind it. My great ancestors fought for the color of my skin, die for it and praise it. Others may feel as if they are cursed to be born as an Africana American. They are just looking at the negative parts of it. Like not being able to get a job because of the color of our skin, not being able to go into certain places. I love being an African American, it come with respect and history.
African Americans have had it hard for years. Since I was not there to witness our struggle and glory I will praise my race. We have been beaten, killed, raped of our pride and we are still strong. Being an African American is never hard for me. They might label us as ignorant and stupid, but we are neither. Whatever we have, we have earned. We put our blood, sweat and tears into our work. Nothing has been given to us. Even though we should be awarded everyday for our strength and courage, we are not. Our beaten and struggles our ancestors went through can’t compare to no other beaters. We were beaten until we were unconscious, but we never gave up. That’s the joy of being an African American.
We have achieved so much throughout our lifetime. Invented things such as street lights, hot combs and peanut butter. Achieving so much has been acknowledged for once. It’s been acknowledge so much that we have a black history month (February). Having a whole month let’s me know that being an African American is important. So why change a beautiful race into a ugly one. A portion of our African Americans are sinking into the stereotypes: stupid and ignorant. The other better half wouldn’t let them drown into it. Working so hard for our freedom, to let one of our kind come and ruin it would be heartbreak. We all know that will never happen.

Living In Chicago

Living in Chicago

Living in Chicago has its ups and downs. You will not be able to live in Chicago without knowing how to protect yourself. There are many dangerous, crazy, and absent minded people there. If you were not born in Chicago, you will never get use to it, not to say people living there are. It’s a disgrace that you have to look around, just to see if any one is trying to run up on you and take your belongings, when walking at night. In Chicago living is very hard. You have to live within your spending limit and neighborhood.
Many people are hesitating to buy house do to the fact of how the neighborhood is looking and its reputation of it. Now today it’s not like all you have to do is say I want this house. You will have to do a whole background check on the neighborhood, the people and if it’s safe enough for you and your family to live there. Which is very sad; when you are supposed to feel safe in your own neighborhood, where else would you feel safe at. Your neighborhood is like your second home, if you don’t protect it, it will fall apart. But in Chicago there’s always someone who thinks they own something, when they don’t. In Chicago what was originally owned by the person who invented it or named after, some one came back around and claimed it as theirs.
Although Chicago may not be the only terrible city, it’s one in the few among killing, rape, drug dealing. Every where you go in Chicago you will see a drug dealer, abandoned building, or an abandoned teenager. There are good things about living in Chicago, but not as much as the bad. You can pay for your rent late, afford an apartment at your budget, and be able to use your link card at any store when wanted, when living in Chicago. Chicago is not as bad as people may make it turn out to be at all.

Teenagers

Teenagers

Young people feel that they are grown when they reach a certain age like sixteen and seventeen. By law you are not officially grown until you reach eighteen (females) and twenty-one (males), but there are responsibilities that comes with being grown. You have to be able to pay your bills on time, stand on your own without any assistance, and bring in a stable income. The teenagers today feel that they could mooch off their parents or guardians for the rest of their lives, and they alright. But still want to call them grown. If you are not bringing in no income you are not grown.
Teenagers feel since they are graduating out of High School they can do what ever they want. But if you are still living at home with your parent or guardian that’s not going to happen. It will feel so much better to have your own home, then continue living in some one else home ant them constantly telling you what to do. There are a lot of teenagers that don’t like to be told what to do, but are living in someone else’s home. You have to obey there rules or leave. No one is going to let you live in there home and you continue to disrespect them and their home.
“I’m grown”, “I can do whatever I want”, “you can’t tell me what to do”, are just some things teenagers say when they call themselves maturing. Even though they are not maturing in an appropriate manner. Saying comments like that is hurting them. Being able to say you are grown is a privilege. If you can’t stand by it, why say it? Many teens think grown is being able to smoke without hiding it. Those are just the little things that are not important when you are grown. Just because you are able to purchase liquor doesn’t mean you can go home and disrespect your parent or guardian in their home. It’s not easy being an teen adult.

WILD TEENAGERS

Wild Teenagers

What has gotten into our future teenage adult? They have fallen off the earth and on to another planet. Why do I say this? Many of our young teens have drugs, sex, violence, and murder. In the old days children use to talk out there problems, then go get some ice cream. Now today you either fight or are killed. You no longer can talk out your problems. People wants to see blood and violence now a day, just so they can run and tell what happened. With being a teenager your mind is just beginning to develop and expand so they still have childish ways.
With the female teenagers they turn to sex as a way of comfort if they are not getting it at home. This leads to teenage pregnancy. Many teen females are not ready for a baby, but still have it just so they could keep there man or boyfriend, but find themselves taking care of a baby alone. Some teenage females feel that having sex with only guy doesn’t fulfill them so they begin to sleep with every man or boy they meet. In their eye’s they know that it’s not right to treat their body that way, but they just want some happiness in their lives.
Most young teens turn to drugs when there is something going wrong in their lives. Today many of them are smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol. Which cause them to act out? They get into car accident, brutal fights and talk crazy, when under the influence. Instead of them just talking to someone they fill comfortable talking to in a safe area to tell them what’s going on in their life. I know it’s hard for a male to tell someone how they feel, just because they suppose to be the tough ones. If it’s causing a change in there behavior they need to talk to someone quick before something terrible happen. What are the young teens going to turn to when the alcohol and marijuana is gone? We will soon find out when their gone.
